The Vice-Chancellor of Keele University in Greece, Emeritus Professor Odysseas Zoras, played an active and influential role at the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (CICSIC) 2025, the world’s largest innovation and entrepreneurship competition for university students, held in China. Professor Zoras participated as a distinguished commentator during the final presentations, highlighting Keele University Greece’s strong commitment to the global academic and entrepreneurial community.
In addition to his role as a commentator, the Rector also took part as a keynote speaker in a roundtable discussion entitled “Cultivating University Students’ Innovation Capabilities in the AI Era.” The discussion, which brought together academics and senior business executives, emphasised the importance of international and intercultural collaboration, the integration of artificial intelligence into higher education, and the need to prepare students for the rapidly evolving global innovation ecosystem.
Among the participants were representatives from leading universities and organisations, including a Member of the Australian Academy of Science and Professor at the University of New South Wales, the President of Wuhan University of Technology, the Deputy Secretary of Zhejiang University, the Chairman of Shanghai Hengying Yisheng Asset Management Co., Ltd., and the Chairman of Hanwei Electronics Group. The programme also featured addresses by China’s Minister of Education, Mr Huai Jinpeng, and the Governor of Henan Province, Mr Wang Kai.
Following the conclusion of CICSIC 2025, Professor Odysseas Zoras stated: “My participation in CICSIC 2025 highlighted the creativity of students. Artificial intelligence is a tool which, when properly guided, enables young people to solve real-world problems. International collaboration is essential if we are to move forward more quickly and safely.
