Programme Description
The postgraduate programme provides a coherent and comprehensive foundation across the core domains of Public Health, including epidemiology, health promotion, health protection, global health, health inequalities, statistical analysis and leadership in healthcare systems. The structure enables the progressive development of advanced knowledge and a deep understanding of the multifactorial determinants of health, as well as the mechanisms shaping contemporary public health challenges at local and global levels.
The learning approach combines lectures, interactive seminars, case-based learning, data analysis and collaborative activities. Students are encouraged to actively engage with the learning process, critically evaluate scientific evidence and apply theoretical frameworks to real-world public health issues. Particular emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, the ability to interpret research findings and the formulation of evidence-informed recommendations.
Upon completion of the programme, graduates will have developed advanced competencies in data analysis, intervention design and evaluation, as well as communication and collaboration skills within complex professional environments. Through the dissertation, students will demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, applying appropriate methodologies and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in Public Health.

- Applied Epidemiology
This module explores the role of epidemiology in improving public health practice and focuses on the need for evidence-based public health. This module allows you to critically evaluate and analyse health promoting activities and develop your skills and knowledge in the marketing of health and wellbeing. You will design a project based on your choice of a population health intervention, detailing how you would implement your plan.

- Health Protection Function of Public Health
Introduces you to infectious disease and environmental hazards and how these can be controlled at an individual and population level. It focuses on themes such as international disaster management, surveillance and outbreak investigation and communicable disease transmission and prevention.

- Community Action Targeting Health Inequalities
Develop your ability to take a critical and multidisciplinary approach to generating opportunities and interventions that focus on promoting health in different populations and diverse communities. You will consider the various issues such as the environment, risk factors like smoking, non-communicable health conditions and target groups such as those living in deprived areas.
