The Vice-Chancellor of Keele University Greece, Professor Odysseas Zoras, delivered the opening keynote address at the annual Panhellenic Conference of the Institute for the Study of Digestive Neoplasms, entitled “Pathogenetic Pathways and Contemporary Therapeutic Approaches in Oncology: Fibrosis, Cirrhosis, Liver Cancer.”

Within the framework of the Conference proceedings, Professor Zoras was presented with an honorary award in recognition of his long-standing and overall contribution to Higher Education. The award was conferred by Professor of Surgery at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Mr Ioannis Kaklamanos.

The Conference was organised with the active participation of the University Department of Internal Medicine – Hepatogastroenterology Unit, the University Department of Surgery, and the Medical Oncology Department of the General Oncology Hospital of Kifissia “Agioi Anargyroi,” one of the country’s leading referral centres for neoplastic diseases.The scientific event was held under the auspices of the Hospital’s Scientific Council, the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncologists (HESMO), and the Hellenic Association for the Study of the Liver (HASL).
